SELF-CONTAINED BIOLOGICAL INDICATORS Key Components ✅ Plastic Pipe and Cap The perforated cap allows the sterilizing agent to penetrate the indicator. A filter paper placed between the pipe and cap prevents contamination. ✅ Crushable Media Ampule Contains modified culture medium with a pH indicator and fluorogenic substrates. The medium changes color from Blue to Yellow in the presence of bacterial growth. ✅ Inoculated Carrier Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC 9372 is located at the bottom, closed end of the pipe. A barrier acts as a plug between the carrier and the ampule. ✅ LBE180 Rapid Biological Indicator Provides fluorescence test results within 180 minutes when used with an automatic reader at 35-39°C, with an accuracy of ≥97%. Offers an optional 48-hour incubation to visually confirm the stability or color change of the culture medium. ✅ Type 1 Chemical Indicator The label on the outside of the plastic pipe contains a Type 1 chemical indicator strip. |
