SELF-CONTAINED BIOLOGICAL INDICATORS Key Components ✅ Cap and Filter Paper The plastic cap has a small hole to allow sterilizing agents to penetrate the indicator. A filter paper placed between the cap and the pipe prevents contamination. ✅ Crushable Media Ampule Contains a modified culture medium with a pH indicator and fluorogenic substrates. In the presence of bacterial growth, the medium changes color from Purple to Yellow. ✅ Inoculated Carrier Contains Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC 7953) spores. Positioned at the bottom, inside the sealed end of the pipe. ✅ Barrier Acts as a plug between the carrier and the ampule, ensuring separation and integrity. ✅ External Label A Type 1 chemical indicator strip is affixed to the outside of the pipe for easy identification of processing conditions. The LBS020 Biological Indicator, when used with an automatic reader (incubation temperature 56-60°C),provides a fluorescence test result in just 20 minutes with an accuracy of ≥97%. For additional confirmation, users can continue incubation for 48 hours to visually confirm the culture medium's stability or color change. |
