Product Information

Product Name and Code

Type 4 Chemical Indicator for Hydrogen Peroxide – LCH40

Features & Advantages

• Type 4 | Multivariable Indicator

• Color Change Designed for easy interpretation with a color change from red to yellow

• CyclesUsed  for VH2O2 sterilization in a V-PRO Low Temperature Sterilization System

• FeaturesVerifies the two critical parameters of exposure time and concentration of vaporized

hydrogen peroxide

Indications For Use

Use the LISTER Type 4 Chemical Indicator for VH2O2 LCH40 as an internal pack process indicator

to verify exposure to vaporized hydrogen peroxide in the sterilizers. The chemical indicator bar turns

from red to yellow after exposure to vaporized hydrogen peroxide.

• The LISTER LCH40 Type 4 Chemical Indicator Strip is a chemical indicator consisting

of a non-cellulose based coated indicator strip sensitive to vaporized hydrogen peroxide.

The chemical indicator strip is an easy-to-handle internal pack monitor for vaporized hydrogen

peroxide sterilizer cycles.

• The LISTER LCH40 CI verifies that the stated values for the two critical parameters of

exposure time and concentration of vaporized hydrogen peroxide have been achieved

within a package or containment device (i.e. wrapped trays, rigid containers, sterilization

pouches, and other types of packs) and/or at a specific location within the load or

empty chamber.

How the LCH40 LISTER MULTIVARIABLE

CHEMICAL INDICATOR works

The LCH40 LISTER Multivariable Chemical Indicator is designed for monitoring vaporized

hydrogen peroxide (VH₂O₂) sterilization. Here's how it works:

1. Chemical Reaction: The indicator contains dyes that react with vaporized hydrogen

peroxide. When the chamber reaches the correct concentration, temperature, and exposure

time, the indicator activates.

If any of these critical variables do not meet the requirements specified by the standard,

the indicator will not show a passing result. This means that the sterilization cycle may not

have achieved the expected sterilization effect and the material cannot be considered sterile,

and the sterilization cycle may need to be repeated.

The main failure causes are:

» Inadequate cycle duration

» Improper cycle selection

» Overloading/incorrect loading of the sterilizer

» Sterilizer malfunction

» Blocking indicator with large metal mass

2. Color Change: As the sterilization conditions are met, the indicator changes color, typically

from red to yellow, showing that the cycle is effective.

3. Class 4 Indicator: LCH40 is a multivariable (Class 4) indicator, monitoring key factors like

hydrogen peroxide concentration and exposure time, according to ISO 11140-1 standards.

4. Applications: Used in medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial sterilization, it provides a

visual confirmation that critical sterilization conditions have been met.
